What is Baduku?
Baduku is an opinion engine that helps people make informed decisions or gauge public opinions about anything. Unlike other review sites that are just a collection of individual opinions presented separately, Baduku is an intelligent organization of opinions that merges the opinions of all users and ranks them by order of consensus.
The best way of describing it is that rather than having to read hundreds of individual reviews to get the whole picture about a topic, Baduku seeks out similar points/opinion in every review and then organizes it by how often a point/opinion was mentioned by different people...well we sort of do this. The slight variation on that is rather than collecting long individual reviews, we collect short individual opinions, because they are much easier to compare and sort through.
What does this mean to you? Well, we aren't saying that you should stop reading the old traditional reviews anymore; they are a valuable source of subjective information. You should come to Baduku when you want the general opinion, the total public opinion about a topic. Old reviews like blogs are "One" opinion, traditional review sites are "A Few" opinions, and Baduku is "All" opinions.
Baduku also is not limited to just products, like so many other review sites out there, nor is it a specific niche. Baduku was designed to allow you to discuss your opinions about any topic. This includes people, places, things, ides, from the concrete like a new cell phone or the abstract like "the meaning of life"
How does Baduku Work?
- Real Unbiased: Other review sites might claim to be unbiased because they themselves are not involved in affecting the opinions of individuals, so while the individual reviews might be bias themselves, the site is not attempting to affect that review. However, there is one fatal flaw, which is the concept of order bias. This occurs when users read a number of reviews that all have the same overall feeling of positive or negative, which ultimately affect the way the user interprets subsequent reviews. Especially after reading a heated review it's easy to imagine how you might already feel when reading the next review.
Baduku can't eliminate order bias since, we too are presenting some form of order however, we attempt to greatly reduce this order bias, first by presenting both positive (the goods) and negative (the bads) opinions side-by-side. Secondly the opinions are short and concise with character limitations which forces opinion contributors to choose meaningful effective words over adjectives that would take up unnecessary character space.
- Public Opinion: Baduku gets it's power and effectiveness from the power of many. With traditional review sites, how many reviews would you have to read to get a good picture of the topic? 2? 5? 100? The answer truly is that you would have to read all the reviews to get the whole picture, but who has time to do that? Also after reading them would your mind be able to retain and process all that information, especially if opinions vary so slightly in intensity?
Baduku overcomes this problem by relying on opinions rather than reviews. Our system doesn't match similar opinions but when contributors are adding opinions about a topic, our system suggests similar opinions by matching their keywords with existing opinions. Our system therefore fosters agreement with existing opinions. Our motto is "why rewrite an opinion when you can agree with what someone else has already said", but of course, you are not limited to that, you are free to express your own unique opinion whenever you want and if other agree, in time it will make it's way up to the top. Basically, by using Baduku, you can get the big picture about how the entire public feels about a topic in just 10 bullet points.
- Instant Gratification: Who's got the time to read a full on review when you need to make a decision on the spot? Especially when making impulsive buys, the best solution is Baduku. Baduku will give you 5 good and 5 bad opinions which help you confirm why you wanted to purchase the product but may also reveal a few negative opinions which could make or break will to buy something.
- Anything Goes: Like we mentioned earlier, our topics are not limited to products like other review sites, you can pretty much create a topic about nearly anything. This includes people, places, things, ides, from the concrete like a new cell phone or the abstract like "the meaning of life"
- One Stop Shopping: If you trust Baduku as a resource for reliable opinions, you can and should also trust us as your resource for finding the best online retailers for whatever it is you are looking for. We work with some of the best and most reliable retailers in the market such as Amazon.com, Musiciansfriend.com and others. There are very important reasons why we choose to work with these retailers as opposed to others, and this is mainly because we can trust that they will deliver you the best prices and the best quality support and service. It might looks like a great deal to get a better price at some lesser known online retailer but from our experience, its not worth it to loss the reliability of knowing you got a generally good deal and that your shipment will arrive on time.
