Just listened to recordings on iTunes and I'd have to say it's a huge difference, every contestants voice was surprisingly good, way better than their live performances. It may even change your mind about who you think are the best.

Watching the guys sing... not impressed so far.

First week's performance by girls was really surprising and many came out of the shadows to shine. Probably the best group of girls in American Idol history in my opinion.
